Adam Hicks

Adam is the Government Chief Technology Advisor for America Makes and a physicist at the Air Force Research Laboratory (AFRL), Materials and Manufacturing Directorate. As a subject matter expert for advanced laser manufacturing and additive manufacturing (AM), he leads research and executes the investment strategies for these technology areas for the Manufacturing and Industrial Technologies Division.

Before joining AFRL in 2018, Adam worked in laser manufacturing research and development in both academia and industry for nine years. In addition to research on lasers for AM, Adam explored various applications for micromachining and micro-welding using various laser technologies.

He has a Master of Science in Physics from Miami University and a Bachelor of Science in Physics from the University of Dayton.
