Bayou Classic BizTech Challenge – Accessing Diverse Talent for Additive Manufacturing

August 09, 2017 | Categories: Opportunities

Deadline: November 4, 2017

America Makes members are invited to connect to a diverse and talented technology workforce by supporting the Bayou Classic BizTech Challenge, a tech-based business competition for students at 14 Historically Black Colleges and Universities (“HBCUs”) located in Louisiana and surrounding states.

The program challenges HBCU students to solve real-world challenges in one of four technology categories, including advanced manufacturing, by applying additive manufacturing and digital design tools. Participants will work in small teams to produce a technology-based business concept, a relevant business model, and a pitch presentation.  The student teams will receive business and technical education and mentorship during the program, and compete for category prizes as well as a $10,000 grand prize to be awarded to the winner on November 25th during an on-field appearance before the Bayou Classic, the historic football game between rivals Southern University and Grambling State University.

Firms can support the program by providing mentorship from industry professionals, serving as a category judge, devising challenge project ideas, and/or offering financial support to the program.  For further information see biztechchallenge.com or contact Genevieve Silverman at NexusLA (gen@nexus-LA.org).
