YOUNGSTOWN, OHIO – America Makes, in partnership with the Mahoning Valley Manufacturers Coalition (MVMC), will host an interactive educational event on Friday, October 6 in recognition of Manufacturing Day. Approximately 60 school-aged students from select districts will participate in combined engagement activities at the America Makes facility, located at 236 West Boardman St., Youngstown. This event features action-packed, hands-on experiences to acquaint students with local partners and pathways, ecosystems, and resources to leverage additive manufacturing as a gateway into advanced manufacturing careers and opportunities.
America Makes is on a mission to create awareness and inspire makers and doers of all ages. The Institute offers a “K through Grey” approach that engages the national advanced manufacturing industry and STEM talent pipeline, introducing individuals to education and training opportunities beyond traditional high school and college preparation, along with upskilling and reskilling those already in the workforce. Manufacturing Day is a further engagement within our local Youngstown community, as well as the nation, to present an opportunity to inspire future careers in the modern manufacturing industry.
The Institute will welcome students from local districts for an immersive experience, introducing them to manufacturers and completing team-based activities from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. The afternoon will be dedicated to participants engaging with local manufacturers to learn more about their services and career pathways. Please let us know if you plan to cover this event.
