The Institute sees unique opportunities for additive manufacturing

YOUNGSTOWN, OHIO – America Makes issued the following statement upon the Administration’s release of the Plan to Revitalize American Manufacturing and Secure Critical Supply Chains. The plan follows the release of a capstone report directed under result of Executive Order 14017 “America’s Supply Chains” issued in February 2021.

America Makes applauds the Administration’s release of the Plan to Revitalize American Manufacturing and Secure Critical Supply Chains, where advanced manufacturing technologies, specifically additive manufacturing, will help drive the future of the American manufacturing sector and help the United States take critical steps towards securing domestic supply chains.

Additionally, the corresponding Department of Defense report “Securing Defense-Critical Supply Chains” specifically mentions additive manufacturing as a strategic enabler to help achieve supply chain resiliency.

Both the report and plan provide clear opportunities for the additive manufacturing industry to continue to show its importance to U.S. supply chains.

America Makes’ Advanced Manufacturing Crisis Production (AMCPR) program showcased this importance by highlighting additive manufacturing as a viable solution to addressing supply chain gaps and establishing a ready-made framework to map domestic manufacturing capabilities and build a resilient supply chain.

As the nation’s leading public-private partnership for additive manufacturing, and the first Manufacturing USA Institute, America Makes works each day to help accelerate additive manufacturing technology in the name of U.S. manufacturing competitiveness and national security. We look forward to continuing to work closely with the United States Government to further this important mission.
