Hanover, MD – Phillips Federal, a division of Phillips Corporation, has added the unique technologies of SPEE3D to support its Public Private Partnership (P3) and additive manufacturing programs at Rock Island Arsenal (RIA).

SPEE3D has revolutionary additive technology, enabled through their LightSPEE3D machine that prints aluminum parts in minutes using a unique technology called Cold Spray Additive Manufacturing (or CSAM). The SPEE3D technology addresses many of the Army’s current readiness challenges in the field. LightSPEE3D printers work on a cold fusion principle utilizing only compressed air, no volatile gases or heat sources are required to bond layers together. In recent Australian Army field trials the system has proven robust enough for austere environments making LightSPEE3D printers an ideal expeditionary solution for building components at the point of need.

Byron Kennedy SPEE3D CEO, states “This is another very exciting announcement for SPEE3D and the DoD forces. This RIA program, in parallel with similar projects happening with The Royal Australian Navy, Army, and Special Forces, will enable the world’s Defense Forces to grow sovereign capability and lead the world in the field of additive manufacturing.”

John Harrison, President of Phillips Federal, states: “We are very pleased to join forces with SPEE3D at RIA. Their unique technology and capabilities will be located at RIA’s Center of Excellence for Advanced Manufacturing in the support of developing future applications for expeditionary forces. SPEE3D adds another terrific dimension to our P3’s growing scope of additive solutions supporting RIA’s manufacturing innovation objectives.”

About Spee3D: Founded in Melbourne Australia with USA headquarters in Michigan, SPEE3D  is committed to helping manufacturers print parts in the fastest way possible and as needed. SPEE3D’s mission is to make additive manufacturing faster & easier. SPEE3D provides the DoD with the world’s first metal 3D printer to use supersonic 3D deposition (SP3D), a patented technology that enables a significantly faster, cost-effective, and more scalable field production than traditional metal printing techniques allow.
