Additive manufacturing promises to revolutionize the way we build things. Using new technologies like 3D printing and laser melting, traditional manufacturing processes, like forging, casting and machining, are being turned upside down. By adding, instead of removing material, new product designs are possible that can result in dramatic reductions in cost and material requirements. With additive manufacturing, designs are free from complexity limitations. We can now make lighter-weight, geometrically-optimized, metal parts that offer the same functionality as their traditionally machined counterparts, with little to no material waste.
