Feature-Based Qualification Method for Directed Energy Deposition AM (Project 3011)

This training webinar will offer insight to America Makes Project #3011, led by GE Global Research, and will detail a Feature Based Qualification modeling framework for Ti-6Al-4V laser powder fed directed energy deposition. The team has methodically deconstructed a complex representative aerospace component to facilitate the development, calibration, and validation of a Bayesian Hybrid Model for predicting tensile mechanical properties. The discussion aims to address the community’s desire to understand why and how to implement these tools for these applications and will include:

• BHM model development, calibration, and validation
• Model predictive capabilities (process parameters to properties and backwards calculations)
• Demonstrations of the tool capabilities and how to’s for making use of the model
