America Makes' technology investment strategy helps the community identify measurable and meaningful challenges that, when met, promote inquiry, knowledge-sharing and technical advancements.
Through thoughtful planning and inquiry, America Makes announces, facilitates, and funds efforts that are challenging members and industry.
Identifying significant and meaningful challenges accelerates advancements in AM and 3DP. To continue best practices for identifying needs in industry, America Makes utilizes in-person workshops and activities as well as online touchpoints, both with members and the public.
Once meaningful challenges are identified, exploration of the problem space escalates. Coordinating and collaborating to identify, focus, and accelerate solutions drives research to the marketplace faster.
To motivate members and the public to participate in challenges, America Makes can offer different models, including the project calls, challenges, and even crowd-sourced projects. This approach attracts different audiences, some outside the member network, who bring new approaches to difficult problems.
