America Makes is the National Additive Manufacturing Innovation Institute.
In creating the brand America Makes, we have united the additive manufacturing (AM) and 3D printing (3DP) community to enable our collective success in both advancing and accelerating the adoption of these technologies and increasing our nation’s global economic competitiveness.
America Makes is the nation’s leading and collaborative partner in AM and 3DP technology research, discovery, creation, and innovation. Structured as a public-private partnership with member organizations from industry, academia, government, non-government agencies, and workforce and economic development resources, we are working together to innovate and accelerate AM and 3DP. America Makes manages a portfolio of more than $80 million in public and private funds for members to advance the state-of-the-art in AM and 3DP.
Established in 2012 and based in Youngstown, Ohio, America Makes is the flagship Institute for Manufacturing USA, the National Network of Manufacturing Innovation, infrastructure of up to 45 Institutes to follow and is driven by the National Center for Defense Manufacturing and Machining (NCDMM).
When referencing the Institute and our brand, please adhere to the following guidelines:
References to the Institute in copy should be structured as:

Referring to America Makes as “formerly the National Additive Manufacturing Innovation Institute” is incorrect and should be avoided.
Additionally, references in copy should NOT lead with “the National Additive Manufacturing Innovation Institute” or clarified as “now known as America Makes.”
References to the acronym “NAMII” for the National Additive Manufacturing Innovation Institute should be avoided entirely.
