Member Driven Rapid Innovation Call

The Member Driven Rapid Innovation Call (RIC) will seek to address immediate and readily actionable needs identified by America Makes members. The Rapid Innovation Call will allow the Institute an agile framework to adapt to the evolving challenges of the supply chain via direct input from the membership.

Eligibility

All project proposal team members must have a signed membership agreement or MOU at least 45 days prior to PoP start date.

Topic Submission, Selection,
and Proposal Process

The process for this America Makes Project Call is a non-traditional process:

  1. Rapid Innovation Call for Topic Submission is submitted by stakeholder.
  2. Executive Committee reviews submissions and selects Topics for proposals
  3. Selected Topic gets posted to America Makes website
  4. Response Deadline and Q&A periods get defined
  5. Proposal with approach, SOW, Cost Volume, Exhibits is submitted
  6. Awards announced

All team members of project team must be America Makes members or have an MOU for membership through cost share signed a minimum of 45 days prior to project start.

2. Can a team submit more than on Project Proposal?

Yes, teams may submit more than one Topic Proposal.

3. How do teams ask questions regarding scope and approach?

Questions should be emailed to ric@americamakes.us. Wuestions should reference the specific posted topic ID and title. Questions will be posted to the America Makes website according to the posted topic schedule. Questions asked AFTER the scheduled Q&A session will NOT be addressed.

4. How do teams ask questions regarding submitting topics for consideration as part of the Rapid Innovation Call (RIC)?

Questions should be emailed to Jason.Thomas@ncdmm.org.  No questions regarding posted topics will be answered by this email address, only questions pertaining to submitting topics for consideration (the approval process to become a posted topic).

5. Can one of our partners be a non-U.S company?

Yes, however all foreign-owned entities must complete a foreign membership request prior to becoming an America Makes member.  This request includes description of U.S.-based establishments or partnerships with qualifying U.S.-incorporated entities that an organization will implement as part of participation.  Application and approval is encouraged to be sought as soon as possible to avoid delays in participation.  Federal funding dollars cannot be spent outside of the United States.  No America Makes project activities can be executed outside of the United States.  It is the Lead Proposer/ team’s responsibility to ensure compliance with all applicable export control laws and regulations.

6. What level of detail needs to be provided when someone is declaring background IP?

The owning organization should list anything that they are leveraging that is not going to be made available to the membership at the completion of the project.  This could be a patent number or a description of the background IP that is being leveraged.
