Institute Seeks Nominees from Academic Sector for Vacancy on Executive Committee

April 18, 2023 | Categories: America Makes News, EWD, Member News

YOUNGSTOWN, OH – America Makes is currently seeking nominees from the academic sector to serve on its Executive Committee (EC). A vacant seat exists due to the departure of Ed Herderick, Ph.D., former Director of Additive Manufacturing, The Center for Design and Manufacturing Excellence (CDME) at The Ohio State University, who recently accepted a new position. The appointed member will serve Dr. Herderick’s remaining term which runs through July 2024.

The EC is the primary strategic advisory group for the Institute, focusing on strategy, policy, and advocacy. The committee is comprised of three appointed government representatives and elected representatives from three sectors within the membership community — two non-profits, two academia, two industry, and two at-large. EC members must be gold or platinum-level members of America Makes and serve a two-year term. In addition to strategy and policy guidance, the committee evaluates the membership model, provides counseling on ecosystem development and partnership building, advises on data management and IP policy, and supports strategic growth efforts and membership outreach.

The EC convenes bi-monthly via conference calls and annually at an in-person meeting during America Makes Members Meeting & Exchange (MMX) event held in Youngstown, OH, each fall.

To nominate an individual from the academic sector or to express interest as a potential candidate to serve the remaining term (through July 2024), please contact Rhonda Capan or John Wilczynski by May 5, 2023
