America Makes proudly announces the second of three challenge series called Innovation Sprints that is open to both members and non-members. The goal of the Innovation Sprints is to further research and development in key areas in support of the Institute’s Technology Roadmap and the advancement of the additive manufacturing (AM) and 3D printing (3DP) industry while reaching a broader audience of innovators.
The second in the series of America Makes Innovation Sprints focuses on case studies for additive manufacturing. Specifically, America Makes seeks detailed case studies focused on examining the use of additive manufacturing (AM) as a business case. The case study should move beyond a “marketing case” and should combine in-depth primary research as well as sources in the form of financial data, business overview, machines/product design costs and features, traditional vs. additive manufacturing process and costs, etc.
As an award, we are offering a Silver-level Membership to the Institute for a year, worth $15,000. Current America Makes members are eligible for award in the form of equivalent credit toward future membership fees.
This is a Theoretical Challenge that requires only a written case study to be submitted. The Challenge award will be contingent upon theoretical evaluation of the case study by the Seeker. If multiple submissions from eligible entities meet all the Solution Requirements, multiple awards may be made at the sole discretion of the Seeker.
To receive an award, the Solvers will not be required to transfer any Intellectual Property (IP) rights to the Seeker. Instead, Solvers will grant to the Seeker a non-exclusive license to utilize their submitted case study. Winning submissions will be published in collaboration with America Makes.
Deadline Extended to February 20
