This presentation will cover Ultrasonic Additive Manufacturing (UAM) a solid-state process based on using ultrasonic welding to join metal foils together. The low temperature process gives UAM several unique capabilities. Several case studies of the variety of designs enabled by UAM will be covered.
Key discussions will revolve around the interplay between multiple AM processes. The team will describe a Smart Build-Plate embedded with strain sensors which allows for process monitoring in other metal additive processes. Additionally, recent work utilizing multiple AM modalities to meet a customer need will be discussed.
