TRX Webinar: MAMLS – Evaluation of Defects in Metal Laser Powder Bed Fusion AM using Multiple Lasers
2:00 pm - 3:00 pm
Laser powder bed fusion (LPBF) systems with multiple lasers offer an important benefit: increased productivity. Parts that are uneconomical to produce with single-laser LPBF systems can be made cost competitive by the productivity improvement from multiple lasers. While many LPBF machine manufacturers are offering commercially available equipment with two and four lasers, there is a need to understand the potential metallurgical defects arising from the use of multiple lasers.
This webinar will build on previous America Makes and MAMLS program successes by delivering a multi-laser system test artifact, technical data package, and draft standard as the foundation for end users to confidently implement new higher-productivity metal LPBF additive manufacturing (AM) equipment. This webinar includes analysis of defects in printed nickel alloy 718, data from in situ process monitoring, post build micro CT, and mechanical testing.
