America Makes Unveils New Online Capabilities Database

Resource Available Exclusively to America Makes Members

Youngstown, Ohio — July 8, 2015. America Makes, the National Additive Manufacturing Innovation Institute, is proud to announce that it is releasing to its membership The America Makes Capabilities Database, a searchable, online directory that provides information regarding the additive manufacturing (AM) capabilities of each America Makes member organization. Designed to enhance collaborative efforts among the membership community, the development of the Capabilities Database was led by America Makes Deputy Director of Technology Transition Kevin Creehan, Ph.D.

“Currently, no single AM organization has the resources or the partnerships that America Makes has to innovate and accelerate AM to increase our nation’s global manufacturing competitiveness,” Tiffany Westbay, America Makes Membership Director & Project Coordinator. “This week’s launch of the new America Makes Capabilities Database is another significant addition to the invaluable resources exclusively available to our members.”

Accessible via the members-only side of the America Makes Web site, the new Capabilities Database provides America Makes member organizations with a one-stop tool for developing teaming, vendor, and customer relationships among our membership community.

“One of the key tenants of America Makes is to foster a highly collaborative infrastructure for the open exchange of AM information and research,” said Dr. Creehan. “With the new Capabilities Database, we are enabling our membership community to even more rapidly forge productive partnerships that maximize resources and knowledge and yield real, game-changing innovations for the AM industry.”

In time, America Makes plans to further grow the Capabilities Database to provide members a searchable, sortable view of the entire AM supply chain at large, including a direct link to the Senvol® Database, a comprehensive, searchable database of industrial AM machines and materials. While these future enhancements include the collection and display of non-member data, the America Makes Capabilities Database will always remain a members-only feature.

Take advantage of the numerous and exclusive resources offered by America Makes by becoming a member today. America Makes offers three levels of membership—Platinum, Gold, and Silver—featuring invaluable benefits for each tier.
