October 7 event will engage students while promoting growth of manufacturing workforce

Youngstown, OH – America Makes, in partnership with the Mahoning Valley Manufacturers Coalition (MVMC), will host an interactive educational event on Friday, October 7, 2022, in recognition of Manufacturing Day. School-aged students from select districts and their parents will participate in combined engagement activities at the America Makes facility, located at 236 West Boardman Street in Youngstown. This event features action-packed, hands-on experiences in becoming acquainted with local partners and pathways, ecosystems and resources, and leveraging additive manufacturing as a gateway into advanced manufacturing careers and opportunities.

America Makes is dedicated to building awareness and inspiration in learners of all ages. The Institute offers a “K through Grey” approach that engages the national advanced manufacturing and STEM talent pipeline, ranging from school programs to defense training. Manufacturing Day is a further engagement within our local Youngstown community, as well as the nation, to present an opportunity to inspire future careers in the modern manufacturing industry.

The Institute will welcome high schoolers from local districts for an immersive experience, introducing them to manufacturers and completing team-based activities from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m.

An open house will be held from 3-6 p.m. where parents, students, and community members are invited to visit the America Makes facility to engage in activities that bring awareness to the possibilities in manufacturing. All ages are welcome and encouraged to attend this free event. Pre-registration for the open house is not required. Registration will be available at the door.
