Cost Share In lieu of Membership Dues Makes Membership Affordable;
Current Members Can Earn $5k Cost Share for Membership Referral

Youngstown, Ohio — October 25, 2017. America Makes proudly announces that for the first time, its annual members meeting will be open to non-members in an effort to acquaint them, firsthand, with the multitude of benefits that membership affords them. The annual, two-day Members Meeting and Exchange (MMX), formerly called Program Review and Members Meeting (PRMM), will be held at the historic Henry H. Stambaugh Auditorium ballroom in Youngstown on November 15 – 16, 2017.

Driven by the National Center for Defense Manufacturing and Machining (NCDMM), America Makes is the nation’s leading and collaborative partner in additive manufacturing (AM) technology research, discovery, creation, and innovation. Each year, America Makes hosts its MMX event to bring its member community together in Youngstown to impart the latest information on the Institute; report on and review technical content as it relates to AM research projects; and provide a venue for members to network and collaborate to generate new partnerships and business opportunities.

“At America Makes, our collaborative model has proven that we can achieve more as a united community to achieve our goal of advancing additive manufacturing technology development, adoption, commercialization, and education,” said Tiffany Westbay, America Makes Membership Director. “Continuing to grow and evolve our membership community is crucial for a high-level of collaboration and we are committed to convening a balanced member community of diverse organizations. It is our hope that non-members will take advantage of the opportunity to participate in MMX to gain a better understand of our work, our achievements, and our membership community.”

America Makes offers three levels of membership—Platinum, Gold, and Silver—featuring invaluable benefits for each tier, including access to valuable intellectual property, technical presentations, project calls, the Innovation Factory, and much more. To support its ongoing goal of continuing to cultivate a diverse and robust membership community—one that more broadly represents the AM ecosystem in the United States—America Makes also recently launched the @Program.

“We want to make membership a more feasible option to those interested in joining America Makes,” added Westbay. “There’s this misconception that our stakeholders are comprised of mostly large organizations. In reality, a third of our members are small- to medium-sized companies. America Makes developed the @Program with this member demographic in mind. The @Program offers cost share credits in lieu of the annual membership dues for those activities in which members are likely already working on and that align to the mission objectives of the Institute. Simply put, both new and existing members can offset their annual cost of membership by easily earning cost share credits.”

Additionally, America Makes is also calling upon its more than 190 members to help the Institute grow the community and support the upcoming MMX event. America Makes members are encouraged to invite non-member partners of theirs to MMX. For every successful referral that results in a subsequent new membership, members can earn a $5k cost share credit.

As part of their membership benefits, existing Platinum- and Gold-level members are reminded that they can sponsor a Silver-level membership for free or at a discounted rate, respectively.

“On behalf of all of us at America Makes, we are excited for a strong turnout of both members and non-members at the upcoming MMX event,” concluded Westbay. “Registration is required to attend, so don’t delay and register today.”
