America Makes to Exhibit at Rapid 2016

The Institute, SME, and the Milwaukee School of Engineering University Also Offering Additive Manufacturing Certificate Program during RAPID

Youngstown, Ohio — May 14, 2016. America Makes, the National Additive Manufacturing Innovation Institute is pleased to announce its participation and exhibition at SME’s RAPID Conference & Exposition 2016, an exhilarating, hands-on learning experience featuring 3D innovation and expertise from around the world, on May 16 – 19, in Orlando, Fla.

RAPID attendees will have the opportunity to engage with more than 200 exhibitors and explore the future of the industry through interactive experiences, keynotes, and conference presentations from some of the most experienced and influential leaders in the additive manufacturing / 3D printing industry, including many members of America Makes.

Both America Makes Director Ed Morris and Deputy Director of Technology Transition, Kevin Creehan, Ph.D. will be participating in the RAPID Kick Off on Monday, May 16th. Mr. Morris will speak on “The Role of Private-Public Partnerships in Advancing Additive Manufacturing.” Dr. Creehan will serve as a panelist in a Panel Discussion, sponsored by America Makes member, Statasys, Ltd., on the topic of “Transition to Production,” detailing the opportunities and challenges that abound in progressing additive manufacturing technology to full part production.

America Makes has once again partnered with SME to bring the SME /America Makes Theater (Booth #867) to RAPID attendees, where they can explore applications of additive manufacturing in aviation, aerospace, medical, and more. The SME / America Makes Theater is also the site where many of additive manufacturing industry’s brightest leaders, many of whom are members in the Institute, will be giving presentations on metal 3D printing, standards, materials, and other hot topics throughout the RAPID exposition. Both Mr. Morris and Dr. Creehan will also speak at the Theater on Tuesday, May 17th and Wednesday, May 18th. Mr. Morris will provide an update on the Additive Standards Committee while Dr. Creehan will give a Technology Transition report.

Additionally, RAPID 2016 attendees will have the opportunity to attain an Additive Manufacturing Certificate, which serves as verifiable proof of an individual’s foundational knowledge by successfully completing an exam. SME, in conjunction with America Makes and the Milwaukee School of Engineering, and a team of industry leading advisors who strategically defined the additive manufacturing body of knowledge. Registration for the Additive Manufacturing Certificate is required.
