Selected teams to address immediate, mid-term needs of supply chain
Youngstown, Ohio – America Makes is proud to announce the winners of the Open Project Call – Summer 2022 for projects funded by the Air Force Research Laboratory (AFRL), Materials and Manufacturing Directorate, Manufacturing and Industrial Base Technology Division. Driven by the National Center for Defense Manufacturing and Machining (NCDMM), America Makes awarded over $1M in funding with at least $0.5M in matching funds from the awarded project teams for a total of roughly $1.5M.
Awardees were announced on October 19 during the America Makes Technical Review and Exchange (TRX) Conference held in Huntsville, AL. The topics for the Open Project Call were revealed on July 25, 2022, and represent the collaboration and perspectives from the membership, working groups, Roadmap Advisory Group (RMAG), and prior America Makes AM Technology Roadmap workshop efforts to create actionable focus areas which address the needs of the membership.
“We are excited to announce and celebrate the winners of this project call,” stated Dr. Brandon Ribic, America Makes Technology Director. “It’s always impressive to see our membership bring forth such dynamic and thoughtful solutions to advance additive technology and the industry. I was especially pleased to share this information during our TRX event with so many of our stakeholders present. I am confident the winning teams will not only address critical areas of need but also better strengthen the collaborative mindset of our membership.”
The projects are expected to be completed in June 2023 with data to be made available to America Makes members.
