‘3 Minutes With’: Advanced Methods in Innovation Prints Face Shields

Julie Michael Smith, executive director of Advanced Methods in Innovation, tells how the 3D-printing nonprofit transitioned from teaching students additive manufacturing to making face shields. AMI began production on reusable and adjustable custom face shields for medical professionals.
“One of the key benefits of 3D printing is that you’re able to develop new products,” Smith says. “So it’s the personalization aspect but it’s also the new product development that you can rapidly respond to and quickly get to market.”
